I am having a torrid summer affair (the best kind!) -- with harem pants. They're easily my favorite trend of 2010 so far. I can't even think of a runner up...though in looking at my purchases from the last month, I do seem to have developed a disturbing affinity for sequins.
I've come to the conclusion that the well-rounded wardrobe needs harem pants in every color and material, for every occasion. How else can I possibly explain the fact that I currently own four pairs and have another three on order?
Seriously, though, I've been shocked by how versatile, comfortable, and effortlessly chic I'm finding them to be. I've worn silk harem pants with heels to go out at night; I wore a silk-linen version with a J. Crew t-shirt and flip-flops to go shopping; and I wore a gray jersey pair with layered tops to travel. I felt comfortable and looked put-together and (IMO :) cool on each occasion. They're a solid staple in my summer 2010 wardrobe.
